Election results

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

Thanks to all of you who voted yesterday, your voices were heard loud and clear.  The Democrats have regained control of the House and in a few days the results of the Senate should be known.

What does this mean to the American people?

How I see it, we just got tired of all the bickering and finger pointing between the Democrats and Republicans.  Nothing was accomplished in the last two years.  Every important issue was stalled out.  This Congress was the “do nothing” Congress and now we are telling them to “do something!”  Stop your arguing and bickering, get down to work and give us some direction on important issues.

Issues such as Immigration, Iraq, minimum wage and even social security are all important to us.

Now I’m saying that the Democrats in two years will resolve all of these issues.  There may be more arguing and bickering going on but I am saying give the Democrats a chance to prove themselves that they can resolve these issues.  They didn’t seem to be able to the last two years but then they said it’s because they weren’t the majority.  So now you are the majority so do something

If they don’t then I urge the public to once again make their voices clear and vote them out in 2008!

Until later,

Linda

November 7th – Election Day

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Stop whatever you are doing on Tuesday, November 7th and go vote!  I’m not asking you, but telling you that you must vote.  Vote either for Republican or Democrat candidate, vote for or against your state’s ballot issue – but just vote!

Young, old and in between let your voice be heard today!  Good luck to all the candidates but there can be only one winner and I hope it is the best candidate for the job.

 Happy Election Day to all!

Until later,

Linda

Election Day, Tuesday, November 7th

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

With only four days left before the election on November 7th the phone calls and T.V. advertising are getting hot and heavy.  In fact, just the other day I got a call from Robert Redford.  Nice of him to call me, but he was pitching a candidate and I was really busy and told Bob I couldn’t talk right now but call me back later.

After about a two weeks of soliciting phone calls for my vote for a candidate I received a call that an actual person was talking to me.  He asked me if I was going to vote for a certain candidate.  By this time I had enough of this nonsense.  So I said, “No, I’m not voting for your candidate.”  It seemed to shock him but I haven’t had any more phone calls since then.  I guess when you say no that means put me on the no call list.  That’s just fine with me.

This weekend I am going to spend the day reviewing the candidates and looking at the ballot issues in my state.  I will make a list of who I will vote for and my decision on my state’s ballot issues.  On Tuesday morning I will go and vote and whether my candidate or the ballot issues win or not I know that I have made my choice wisely.

That is what being an American is and I thank all of our military people that everyday they protect this country so that I can be free to vote.  Now you have no excuse not to vote.  Your vote is very important because it is your voice.  Use that voice on Tuesday and shout out your opinion.  But please be considerate of others who have opinions too and respect their voice.

Until later,

Linda

John Kerry – Open Mouth and Insert Foot

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

I’ve sat back and listened to the debate of what John Kerry said and didn’t say about his little “joke.”  Quite frankly I’m disgusted at what he said about our troops in Iraq.  I know what I heard him say and it was a bash against our troops and NOT against President Bush.

His refusal to admit what he said was wrong but not unusual for John Kerry.  He’s had a lot of time to play the blame game.  Back during the Vietnam War he blamed the soldiers for atrocities and said he was blaming the administration.  Now let me get this right.  If two kids on a school playground are fighting, then the blame must go to the teacher, administrators, principal or even the school board – because these children are fighting?

I also am offended by his remarks that if we didn’t get his joke as a bash against this administration that we were stupid.  Well, excuse me Mr. Kerry, I’m a mere mortal and have learned throughout the years that us mere mortals take responsibility for our words, actions and deeds.  But you must consider yourself not a mortal but something higher!

Finally, after almost two days of his arrogant attitude refusing to apologize, I see that he apologized for his botched joke.  Not good enough for me.  He didn’t say, I’m sorry that I said that about our troops, he didn’t say that he didn’t mean it, but he did say that he botched the joke and is apologizing for it.  That is narcissism at its highest!  He’s never wrong but everyone else is.

So once again John Kerry has opened his mouth and inserted his foot.  I am very proud of our troops and know that they chose to serve their country.  I saw some stats this morning that said that 99% of our soldiers are all high school graduates and that the average age is 26 years old.  No drop outs here or no uneducated soldiers as far as I can see.

John Kerry is still living in the past and as far as I am concerned he will never get out of the Vietnam Era.  Grow up, John, take responsibility for your words and actions and start acting like a true patriot.  But then you would have to be a mere mortal to do that.

Until later,

Linda

Two more weeks of trash politics

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Okay folks, we have only two more weeks of trash politics to get through before Election Day on November 7th.  I cannot take anymore of these trashy commercials that only have negative comments about candidates.  One political candidate can’t be trusted because… the other is sleeping on the job…another “just doesn’t get it.”  So what do these politicians stand for?  What can they do for us?  Trash each other?  Give us a “better deal” or make our lives better?

I remember the Presidential election of 2004 and all you heard was negative T.V. ads.  I was hoping the mid-election would be better, but no, the trash and negativity still continues.  What ever happened to the “good old days” when a candidate put out ads that said who they are, what they stood for and why they were the best candidate all around?  Now both sides – Democrats and Republicans – cannot seem to come up with a good political ad that tells who they are and what they stand for and what they “promise” us they will do.

Every ad tries to sell us on the other’s dirty laundry.  I’m totally disgusted.  But it won’t stop me from voting in two weeks.  Because I believe that every person has the right to vote and express their opinion.  Ever since I was able to vote, I have never missed an election.  Now I don’t do primaries because I consider myself Independent so I wait until each party sorts out who they want to run and then I make a choice.  I really feel it is the Independent voters who really make the right choices because we are not bound by any party rules or regulations to blindly vote for one particular party.

I also take ballot issues very seriously and that’s why I vote.  If a ballot costs me money, I want a say in it – either yea or nay.  I have my “blue book” in hand and will read all the ballot issues carefully, make a list and mark down my decisions on each one.

Voting to me has been a tradition handed down to me by my grandmother who was part of the suffragette movement nearly eighty plus years ago.  I remember her telling me that it was important for me, as a woman to vote, because of all the women who fought hard to give us the right to vote.  That’s another reason why I vote.

Two weeks and counting down until all of this nonsense is over, I can hardly wait.

Until later,

Linda
