Security Suite Anti-Virus program is a scam
Just the other day, my laptop was infected with a fake antivirus program. I couldn’t open up Outlook Express or Internet Explorer. I couldn’t even open up my Control Panel. For about 20 minutes all I received was pop up warnings that my lap top was infected and opened up a web page to a Security Suite program wanting me to buy their software. So I ran my MacAfee and it said that my computer was not infected. But the pop ups kept coming up. I restarted the computer and I still couldn’t open up Outlook Express or Internet Explorer.
So I agreed to buy their cheapest anti-virus and started to download the software program. I was concerned because they not only asked for my credit card number but also the three digit number on the back of the card. This is a no – no and I knew that for other transactions on-line I never had to give that three digit number.
Then almost immediately, I received a warning from my credit card company that the transaction amount was from SUPER-AV.COM in VICTORIA, Russian Federation. I immediately shut down my lap top before any more downloads was completed. I contacted my credit card company and told them to stop payment on this transaction. I then went back to my lap top and was able to open up my Control Panel and deleted the software program.
Whatever you do, do not purchase or download this software. It is a scam. In most cases, the only virus on the computer is actually associated with the AV Security Suite site itself. You don’t need to call anyone to get rid of this program or purchase antivirus software to remove the AV Security Suite virus. Go to this link and I highly suggest you print this out in case it happens to you.
Until later,
Linda
