Tough choices on Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Last night was probably the hardest show to watch in the entire season – picking the star who had to leave. Unfortunately, Chuck Wicks was chosen. This was truly sad because Chuck was progressing so nicely and was getting stronger and stronger each week. But with so many talented stars left on the show, someone had to go.

Chuck did say that he would go back to performing his Country music that he loved. I think Julianne Hough can now resume her Country singing career as well. They made such a cute couple and looked like they were having a lot of fun.

With five stars left all of them need to bring on their “A” game dances. I’m glad that the viewers gave Melissa Rycroft another chance as well as Ty Murray. Shawn Johnson, Lil’ Kim and Gilles Maririe need to continue performing at their highest level. The next couple of week should be an exiciting finish to Dancing with the Stars.

Until later,

Linda

Six stars left in Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Last night’s Dancing with the Stars showcased some really top notched dancing by the stars. They were all so good that it was difficult to chose the one star that has to leave the competition tonight.

Unfortunately, Melissa Rycroft was injured and couldn’t perform. Even her rehearsal dance was pretty good but you could see that her ribs were hurting her throughout the dance. I agree it wasn’t top notched but she has so much talent that it would be a shame if she leaves the show.

How about that Ty Murray – he’s so cute! He even spray tanned his body for the Salsa. Wow, what cowboy would do that? Len said after his Salsa that if he didn’t pick it up a notch for the team dance that this cowboy should hit the trail. I don’t agree with Len at all. Ty pulled it out nicely in the team dance so I think he should stay one more week.

Did you catch that “do” on Gilles Maririe for his Lindy Hop. He looked like “gumby”!

Who knew that Shawn Johnson would grow up before our very eyes. This 17 year old looked so mature and sexy in her Samba.

Lil’ Kim was consistent in her dancing but you know I’m not really into her. Can’t quite figure her out. She can dance but lacks a certain personality.

Now Chuck Wicks has that charming personality when he dances, he’s come a long way and looks really strong in his performances.

The team dances were fun to watch. Team Momba was really a fun dance with lots of energy. The ending was hilarious, the guys took off their pants and showed their fish net stocking legs! That was funny. Team Tango was also very good with only 3 points separating them from Team Mambo.

Once again it will be difficult to chose the one that has to leave this week. All the stars performed great. So I’m not going to make any predictions but watch the show tonight and feel really disappointed when one of the stars has to leave.

Until later,

Linda

Another star falls in Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Lawrence Taylor was the latest casualty in Dancing with the Stars last night. He had some good dances but not up to par with the other stars. Speaking of up to “par” Edyta asked Lawerence to teach her to play golf. I’m sure Lawrence will be busy playing golf the rest of the summer. As for Ty Murray, he better start dancing better because he may be the next one to go.

Last night Dancing with the Stars showcased six professional dancers. They asked the viewers to vote for their one favorite dancer to come back next season to dance with a star. To be honest I couldn’t pick which professional is better than the other professionals. They all looked great. My two favorites were Afton DelGrosso and Genya Mazo. I think the choice will come down to who has the best personality.

The show last night was pretty slow with interludes of dancing,  singing and calorie burning – interesting but really dull. It seems that the show is running out of ideas for their Results show.

We’ll see what next week’s show brings when the six remaining stars do two dances one being a group dance split into two groups.

Until later,

Linda

Dance fun – week 7 Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Last night’s Dancing with the Stars was filled with a fun group dance and various ballroom dances. From the Samba to the Waltz each star picked up their performance and danced with enthusiasm. The group dance was “odd” to say the least, but it was fun to watch.

What was surprising last night is that Gilles Maririe’s Waltz was not up to expectations. It was graceful and smooth but not his best dance. But the judges gave him the same exact score (27) as they did Chuck Wicks’ Samba which I thought was excellent. Chuck’s dancing has greatly improved and seems as though he may be a real contender.

Lil’ Kim’s rhumba was too mild and looked rather stiff to me. She wanted to tone it down but all she did was make it too bland to watch. Shawn Johnson’s Cha Cha Cha was flirty and fun and she did a great job. Bruno gave her a 10 – a first one for her this season. Way to go Shawn!

Melissa Rycroft is also becoming a real contender, her Argentine Tango was awesome. She received two 10s for a score of 29.

Lawrence Taylor looked graceful with his Waltz but still not up to par with the leading contenders. Also Ty Murray, he’s so cute, didn’t perform very well. He’s still too stiff and timid in his dancing. Len made a comment that his Waltz was more rise and fall then a bride’s nightie – ahh British humor gotta love it.

The two stars in jeopardy right now are Lawrence Taylor and Ty Murray. They both seem that they can’t lift their performance to match the top contenders. One of them may be going home tonite.

 Until later,

Linda

The latest star eliminated from Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Last night my prayers were answered – Steve O was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars. It was about time. I don’t know how he made it half way through this year’s season, maybe by the grace of his fans!

Now there are 7 stars left and next week they will be doing the group dance. Ty Murray and Lawrence Taylor better step it up or else they will be the next to go. I think Chuck Wicks has a couple of more weeks left on the show but he’s no contender for the final four.

My final four picks are Lil’ Kim, Melissa Rycroft, Shawn Johnson and Gilles Maririe.

Until next week,

Linda

Week 6 – Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Dancing with the Stars is at the half way point now and as Len said, this is the time to separate the “contenders from the pretenders”. I must admit, I wasn’t all that impressed with the dances last night. The stars either danced the Jive or the Rhumba – not my favorite ball room dances.

Here are the contenders – Lil’ Kim – she danced the Jive to the music “Jailhouse Rock” what a perfect dance for her. I wonder if she was dancing that way when she was in jail? Her Jive was okay but too theatrical. The judges liked it and gave her a 28 but I was with Len who gave her an 8, not impressed, just a lot of jumping around.

Gilles Maririe also danced the Jive and it was too busy for me! It looked more like an European Jive and not an American Jive. He received a 26.

Melissa Rycroft danced the Rhumba and it was okay, the judges gave her a 27.

Shawn Johnson also danced the Rhumba and at 17 years old she did pretty good. It was certainly age appropriate, not too sexy but very nice. She is so cute!

The bottom of the contenders are Chuck Wicks who danced the Rhumba and of course it was pretty darn sexy. The judges gave him a 23 for the dance. Lawrence Taylor danced the Jive and he looked like he was having a lot of fun and got his groove back. The judges gave him 22.

As for the “pretenders” – Steve O! His Rhumba was awful and even the judges said it was bad dancing. The judges gave him 16. Poor Ty Murray did his best on the Jive but came up short – no pun intended – he received an 18.

My bottom two are Steve O and Ty Murray. I still want to see Ty Murray dance another week, so Steve O must go! I don’t know how he stayed this long? We’ll see tonite who leaves.

Until later,

Linda

David Allan Grier leaves Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Last night, David Allan Grier had the lowest scores and was eliminated from the competition. His dance off routine was much better than his performance the other night but he didn’t get enough of votes to continue. I’m sorry to see him go. He was progressing nicely and should have stayed at least one more week.

But who knew – Steve O is still alive on the show! I’m sorry, Steve O cannot dance, Steve O doesn’t seem to be taking this seriously, Steve O has got to go. I know he has a fan base out there. But can his dancing compare to Gilles? Even to Lawrence Taylor? I don’t think so. Come on people, Steve O does not deserve to win the mirror ball trophy – he is an atrocious dancer and needs to get out – soon.

 Until later,

Linda

Week 5 – Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

This week’s dances on Dancing with the Stars were difficult. The stars danced either the Viennese Waltz or the Pasa Doble. Now the Viennese Waltz is a beautiful dance with whirls and swirls but the Pasa Doble is a powerful dance. The only star that captured the essence of the Pasa Doble was Gilles Maririe and his partner Cheryl. What a fantastic dancer!

As for the Viennese Waltz I really liked Shawn Johnson’s performance. She is so tiny but her dance was big and full of beautiful whirls and swirls.

After 5 weeks of competition the top four dancers are Gilles, Shawn, Lil’ Kim and Melissa Rycroft. If they keep up dancing as they have it will be very difficult to pick a winner. (My favorites are Gilles and Shawn.)

The bottom stars are Ty Murray, David Allan Grier, Chuck Wicks, Lawrence Taylor and Steve O. Okay folks, you have to vote off Steve O this week. I can’t stand another week of his non-performance. But give Ty Murray, David Allan Grier, Chuck Wicks and Lawrence Taylor another week to up their performances.

We’ll see who will be leaving tonite,

Until later,

Linda

Week 4 Result Show- Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Last night’s result show eliminated Steve Wozniak and Holly Madison. They had the lowest total scores. Maybe I wasn’t so surprised that Steve O wasn’t eliminated, all of his “fans” probably voted to keep him one more week. But as Steve O said, he has been clean the last 4 weeks – no drugs or booze. Maybe he should go back on them, it may make his performance better – I’m only joking!

Sorry to see Steve Wozniak leave, I really think he gave it his all. But he was a bad dancer. As for Holly Madison, well she tried her best but wasn’t that good either.

I really enjoyed the entertainment last night on the show. The professional dancers as well as the guest singers were great. I enjoyed watching the Vienniese Waltz danced to John Denver’s song “Annie”. He was a great singer, writer and composer and how tragic was his death.

Next week the stars will be dancing either the Pasa Do Blay or the Vienniese Waltz. Can’t wait to see how Steve O screws them up.

Until later,

Linda
