Cloris Leachman next star to leave Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

It was inevitable, Cloris Leachman is the next star leaving Dancing with the Stars. After all she only received 15 from the judges the other night and quite frankly the dance routines are getting harder to do and demand more physicality. Cloris gave us some laughs and and I don’t know about you but I was holding my breath while she danced. I was afraid she was going to fall and break a hip or even get a heart attack. She said that she will be back next week all dressed up to watch the show. That’s nice.

Now there are six stars left. Maurice Green and Susan Lucci better step it up for next week or else they may be seeing themselves leaving as well. I still predict the final four to be Lance Bass, Warren Sapp, Cody Linley and Brooke Burk. Hopefully Cody Lindley will respond to Edyta as well as he did to Julia Anne Hough who is recovering from an appendectomy. Maybe she’ll return for the final show – just to sit and watch alongside Cloris Leachman.

Speedy recovery Julia Ann!

Until later,

Ball room dancing back on Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Last night’s Dancing with the Stars featured Ball room dancing once again. With Len out for this week’s session, Michael Flatley sat in for him as a judge. You could tell he was enamored by Brooke Burk even though her dance performance wasn’t her best. He gave her a 10 for her Rhumba. She was okay, but you can tell that she was stiff in her dancing because of her injured foot. Hopefully she can come back from her injury and perform at her best again.

The surprise of the night was Lance Bass’ Jive. It was clear and crisp filled with a great onstage presence. Self-confidence was oozing from his dance routine. The judges gave him a 27.

Susan Lucci was really shaking it with her Mambo routine but she seemed to be concentrating on shaking it and forgot to smile or make any type of facial movements. The judges gave her a 23. I think she may be in trouble. I watched her on the group dance hip hop and she seemed lost.

Maurice Green did a very fine Waltz, he received a 21. I’m just not impressed by his dancing ability. Here’s another star that may be in trouble as well.

Cody Linley has finally come of age. His Samba was clear, sharp and in step. He received a 23. Bad news for Cody. Julia Anne Hough his partner is having surgery to remove her appendix and will probably be out for a couple of weeks. Ahh, youth! She thinks she’ll be back next week – I don’t think so. Until then, Edyta – who is a fantastic dancer – will be working with Cody for next weeks dances.

Then there was Cloris Leachman. Her Cha Cha Cha left a lot to be desired. Carrie Anne absolutely hated her dancing and started to say that there was something wrong about voting off Toni Braxton and keeping Cloris on. Whoa girl! To be perfectly honest Toni Braxton wasn’t all that great either. Last week’s performance by Cloris was really good. Toni’s wasn’t. The judges gave Cloris 15 for her Cha Cha Cha. Cloris’s performance in the hip hop group dance was – well wasn’t a performance. She just walked up and down and sat and watched everyone dance. What do you expect for an 82 year old woman?

It is time for Cloris to go. I know she brings fun and entertainment to Dancing with the Stars. But let’s get real, it’s coming down to the last 4 weeks of the show.

My prediction for the final four are: Lance Bass, Warren Sapp, Brooke Burk and Cody Linley.

Time for Maurice Green, Susan Lucci and Cloris Leachman to be gone.

Until later,

Toni Braxton gone from Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Last night – as I predicted – Toni Braxton was the next star leaving Dancing with the Stars. She did say that her time spent learning to dance helped with her breathing and made her heart strong. Good for her, now she should try to continue the same physical routine so she can get stronger and hopefully be able return to performing. I think she was timid or even afraid to let loose with her dancing because of her heart problem. But it only goes to show you, some form of physical exercise is very healthy for your body.

Once again Cloris Leachman dodged the bullet. She must have some fan base out there.  It really didn’t surprise me that Lance Bass was one of the bottom two. If he doesn’t step it up for next week he may be going home before Cloris does! Lance and Lacey seem to be the bad boy/bad girl of this season. Maybe that’s why people aren’t voting for them. Their dances are unconventional and fans of this show are used to conventional. Of course their attitude doesn’t help much. They have said that they understand about being conventional but they want to bring in their own personalities to each dance. Wasn’t Len who said that the judges are looking for performance along with technicality? Where in that statement is “own personalities”? I think you get by drift.

With 7 stars left the remaining weeks should be interesting.

Until later,

Half way through Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

We are half way through the season of Dancing with the Stars and it was filled with different types of ball room dancing. From the West Coast Swing, frankly I’ve never seen this type of dance before, the Hustle, we all remember this one from the ’70s, Salsa, hot and spicy dancing, to the Jitter Bug.

Now the Jitter Bug I do remember watching on American Bandstand. Yes, I’m dating myself but I do remember watching those teenagers dancing the Jitter Bug and I really enjoyed it. I think the only couple that came close to the real Jitter Bug was Brooke Burk and Derek. Heck Derek had to do Internet research on the dance steps. He did really good with the dance. Took me back to my younger days. Brooke got two 10’s and one 9 for a total of 29 points. Great job!

Cody Linley’s Jitter Bug was too campy for me but Carrie Anne did give him a 10 for the dance routine.

Cloris Leachman and Maurice Green danced the Salsa. Maurice did a great job and received all 9’s for a score of 27. Cloris did okay for her age and the judges were kind to give her 21 points.

Warren Sapp and Susan Lucci danced the Hustle. Susan’s Hustle was too “uptown” for me, but with a fractured foot she did all right. Warren’s Hustle was awesome for a big guy and totally funky!

The West Coast Swing seemed to give Lance Bass and Toni Braxton a lot of problems. Lance’s dance partner Lacey is the World Champion of the West Coast Swing and Len took her to task by saying that she needs to show off Lance’s dancing ability instead of hers. They received a 21. Toni’s dance routine was so so and the judges gave her 22 points.

So there you have it. Top scores to Brooke Burk and bottom scores to Cloris and Lance. Everyone else is packed in the middle.

Who’s going home tonit? I think it’s a toss up between Toni Braxton and once again Cloris Leachman. But I do have to say, Cloris is giving it her all and maybe the fans will keep her one more week.

Until later,

Linda

Rocco Di Spirito gone from Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Last night Rocco Di Spirito had the lowest overall score and left Dancing with the Stars. As I predicted. I don’t think an extra week would have made a difference, if you don’t have the musicality you just don’t have it.

Last night’s show was really cute with the under 13 dance partners dancing. Wow, they really can dance and what impresses me is that the boys aren’t shy but seem to enjoy what they are doing.

And what about those “chip and dale” dancers??? Actually they were men spanish dancers but a little bare chest goes a long way for entertainment for me!

How about those ”political messages” on the show? What fun. My favorite was about Brooke Burk. A negative message about her was that she’s a chick that is good looking and can dance and that’s why the cast just doesn’t like her. Hope they keep it up with these funny political messages, we certainly need some humor during this political season.

Next week’s dances will feature the “hustle”,”jitterbug”, West Coast Swing and Salsa. Len Goodman said that they will be judging on performance and not so much on technique. At least that may give Cloris Leachman a chance. An 80 plus old woman cannot be concerned with technique but just go out and have some fun and perform.

Until later,

Linda

4th week of Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Last night’s Dancing with the Stars began the 4th week of this series. Carrie Anne seemed to be a bit more stingy with her scores at the beginning and then loosened up a bit as the night wore on.

The stars danced a Samba or Tango and some did very well, while others didn’t. Poor Rocco, his mama told him to shake what his mama gave him but his Samba was only stirred not shaken. He just doesn’t have the musicality of the dances although he did look like he was having fun. He may be a chief but his performance is more like a short-order cook. I don’t think he’ll make it next week.

Cloris Leachman was a big surprise. She seemed to try really hard this week on her Tango and it really showed. She got a 22. But do you really think she can make it through next week’s dances? The dances are the “hustle”, “jitterbug”, West Coast swing and Salsa. The image of Cloris dancing these dances makes me shutter!

Finally, Lance Bass got his act together and started ballroom dancing. He and his partner Lacey performed all the right Tango movements to the judges approval. He received a 26.

Toni Braxton still isn’t my favorite. She is too stiff and not letting it go. Her Samba was pretty weak last night even though she received a 22.

Maurice Green also isn’t getting it. He looked like he was having fun dancing the Samba but not in complete control. He received a 20.

Warren Sapp who got a 22 and Brooke Burk who got a 26 are my two favorite stars. Once again I’m sure they will be in the finals in a couple of weeks.

Cody Linley got a 23 and danced a very nice Tango and Len said that is was his best dance so far. Susan Lucci received a 24 for her Tango that was filled with drama and passion. Once again Len said that this was her best dance so far.

Who’s going home?

Rocco.

Do I need to say anymore?

Until later,
Linda

No one left Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

In a bizarre turn of events, no one left Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday night. Because Misty Mae Treanor was injured and had to leave the stars got one more week to dance. However, if Misty was still dancing, Rocco Di Sprito had the lowest score and probably would have been gone.

Yes, Cloris Leachman is still hanging in there. Another week of agony for her. She claims she’s having fun but the physical challenge must be taking a toll on her.

Despite what you may have heard about Kim Kardashian ready to come back, that isn’t going to happen. Kim, you are gone sweetie so don’t even think about it.

As for Rocco, I agree he does need to step it up and really perform well. Do you want Cloris to be beat you next week?

I just loved the performance of the Rockettes last night. When I was a little girl I adored their precision dancing and leggy kicks. Still do!

Until later,

Linda

Jiving and Waltzing on Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Last night’s Dancing with the Stars was filled with Jives and Waltzes but that wasn’t the main event of the show. Two important events happened

 - 1. The first 10 of the show

 - 2. Misty May Treanor left the show.

All week long we heard about the accident that happened to Misty May. She ruptured her Achilles tendon and is out of the competition. How was this going to effect her Volley Ball career? Misty May said that she was planning to take a year off to devote more time to her family – I heard she and her husband want to start a family – so this may just jump start the process. I’m sorry to see her leave, I think she could have been a real contender in the final four.

The bright spot last night was Brooke Burk who received a 10 from Len on her Viennese Waltz last night. That was such an awesome dance. Light, airy filled with musicality and all I can say is that I wish I could dance just like that. Outstanding job Brooke. I think you are a real contender for the finals.

Warren Sapp once again dazzled us with his version of the Viennese Waltz and received 25 points. What a great personality Warren has and so light on his feet. He too will be in the finals.

Two of the stars really disappointed me. Toni Braxton – who thought the Waltz was named ”Vietnam Waltz” instead of Viennese Waltz – I guess from the get go she was doomed on this dance. She was too stiff and didn’t flow with the dance and it was awful. Then there was Cloris Leachman’s Jive. Really dumb, dumb, dumb. Not funny at all just dumb.

The rest of the stars did okay and will probably move on to dance another week.

My prediction – either Cloris Leachman will go – come on people she has to go – or Toni Braxton.

Until later,

Linda

Kim Kardashian leaves Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Last night, Kim Kardashian was voted off Dancing with the Stars. I’m sure her feelings are hurt because her only reason to stay on the show was to wear pretty costumes and fun jewelry. Never heard anything about DANCING! Sorry Kim, you’ll just have to go out and spend money to sooth your hurt feelings.

I was glad that Cloris Leachman got another week. But come on folks don’t let this poor woman suffer any longer than she has to.

I will admit that I was wrong about Rocco DiSprito, I thought he was leaving this week. But somehow he’s staying on. He better pick it up for next week. That also goes for Lance Bass and his partner. As I said before – start dancing the proper dances otherwise you are out of here!

Until later,

Linda
