A nite of Latin dances for the stars

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Last nite’s stars danced to Latin rhythms. Now we are seeing who are serious and who probably won’t make the cut down the road. The Rhumba and Paso Dobla are slow, powerful and sexy dances and quite frankly some of the stars just didn’t cut it.

Surprisingly the one star who I thought did a pretty good job was Cloris Leachman. For a woman her age she did just fine. Unfortunately most of the dance she was on the dance floor – literally – but when she was up and dancing she captured the idea of the Paso Dobla. Good job Cloris. I would vote to keep you on one more week.

The younger dancers just seemed to be too stiff and not into any of the latin dances except Brooke Burke – she got a 24 and looked really great – and Warren Sapp – how does that man move so easily? A real contender on my part.

Susan Lucci is still dancing like she is dancing on egg shells. Lighten up and loosen up Susan otherwise your time is growing short.

Misty May Treanor did an awesome, powerful Paso Dobla. She really scares me on how she attacks every dance. To win this she needs to back off on her aggressiveness and show a softer side of herself.

Kim Kardashian was too stiff for the Rhumba and looked as though she hated every moment of the dance. She may be in trouble this week and may have danced her last dance.

Maurice Green may be the fastest man but he certainly does lack finesse and looked too stiff dancing the Rhumba.

But the one star that I really think should be leaving is Rocco DiSpirito, the chef. He did not cook up anything good for his Rhumba. I was shocked to see Len give him a good score. Len must have been feeling generous last nite.

As for the “kids” dancing – Cody Linley and Julia Anne – their Rhumba was fine. But to win this they have to be much better than fine.

Lance Bass and his partner need to have a better mind set. They want to do the proper dances but want to still show their individualism in their dances. That may be all fine and good, but hey, I’m a veteran of seven seasons watching Dancing with the Stars and I can tell you, doing your own thing and being who you are won’t cut it in ballroom dancing. So get over it and get with the program.

So there you have it. Who will leave tonite? I predict Rocco will be back in the kitchen and off the dance floor.

Until later,

Dancing with the Stars – results show

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

The results show last night on Dancing with the Stars was pretty much as I expected. If you remember, I did say that if Cloris Leachman didn’t leave it would be Ted McGinley. I was right – again.

I don’t know how I know these things, maybe it’s because I’ve watched this show for seven seasons and understand the thinking of the viewers. You know the bragged that this season is bigger and better. Yes 13 stars is bigger but I don’t think it’s better.

What was exciting about this show was the fast pace of the dances, the behind the scenes of learning the dances and of course the elimination of the stars. But with 13 stars, it seemed to slow down the show.

So now there are 11 stars left to dance next week the Latin dances. Oh boy, can’t wait to see Cloris Leachman dance – can you?

Dancing with the Stars – now there are 12

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars saw Jeffrey Ross eliminated from the show. No surprise – I called it. It was a toss up between him and Cloris Leachman. Why in the world she didn’t get the boot, I’ll never know. Maybe tonite is her night to go?

I have to admit the remaining 12 stars did a pretty good job with their Quick Steps and Mambos. The top of the leader board is Brooke Burk and at the bottom is Cloris Leachman – what a surprise!

Brooke seems to have a certain flair in her dancing and I really believe she will go a long way. Once again I was overwhelmed with Warren Sapp’s Quick Step – that man can move! For a big man, I really enjoy watching him dance, hope he sticks around for a long time.

Wasn’t Cody Linley cute dancing the Quick Step? He’s so young, 18 years old, but does have a nice presence when dancing. Misty May Treanor is a very physical looking and powerful dancer. So Misty try to soften it up a bit and you’ll go far.

Rocco Di Spirito cooked up a yummy looking Mambo last nite and for his efforts received a score of 21. Keep on cooking!

Last night’s show featured 12 stars dancing. I really think the show took on too many stars to keep it fun, quick and lighthearted. 10 stars is the right number to keep viewers interested in Dancing with the Stars. You get to know just about all of them personally. My opinion is that when the show took on 13 stars to dance, it made the show slow and seem unending. A total of four hours for the last two nights is two hours too long.

Prediction: For the first time, I don’t know who will leave tonite. I think it will be Cloris Leachman, but I’m getting vibes it may be Ted McGinley. I think viewers want to keep Cloris on for a couple more dances for just pure entertainment. Personally, I think she should go.

Until later,

7th Season Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The 7ths season of Dancing with the Stars was a two hour event with some ups and downs and plenty of laughter. This season there are 13 stars competing. The stars performed either a Fox Trot or a Cha Cha Cha. As to be expected some were fantastic, some did okay and others were miserable.

Let’s talk about the miserable ones. Cloris Leachman performed a Fox Trot. Slow and uneventful but filled with laughter as the judges scored her performance. Then cuss words from the 82 year old flowed out as the judges scored her with a total of 16.

Jeffrey Ross the comedian was awful as well. His jokes are much better than his dancing. I liked when he said that he can’t compare to some of the other stars who have won gold medals or super bowl rings but he has a heart of gold and loves onion rings. The judges gave him a total of 12 for his Cha Cha Cha.

Susan Lucci who is 61 years old, danced very carefully throughout her Cha Cha Cha and I was holding my breath that she didn’t fall and break a hip. She receive a 15 from the judges.

Warren Sapp’s Cha Cha Cha was awesome. For a big guy his moves were fantastic and so light on his feet. 21 points was just about right for his dance.

Brooke Burk stunned the judges with her Cha Cha Cha and received 23 points – the best score for the evening.

The other stars’ scores were in the middle of the pack and looks like they will be moving on. To be honest with you, 13 stars is just too much to handle. Why did they change the program from 10 to 13? Sometimes bigger isn’t better.

Tonite one of the stars will be going home. It is a toss up between Cloris Leachman and Jeffery Ross. To be honest with you I don’t think I could take watching Cloris dance one more dance and see her cuss at the judges again. Let her go home tonite so we can move on.

Until later,

Lies, deceit and deception this political year

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

I am so fed up with the mainstream media (MSM) this political year. Take for instance today’s question from the local Fox 31 channel in Denver. Do you think Sarah Palin’s daughter has an effect on the Republican presidential campaign?

What! How moronic is that? How can a 17 year old daughter of a Vice Presidential candidate determine the outcome of a presidential race? How dare this news channel imply the burden of an outcome on a teenage girl? Do they think we the voters of this country first of all care and secondly gage our attitude towards voting because of a teenage girl?

Now the MSM with the help of mostly left-wing loony web sites are ramping up their lies, deceit and deception of the Republican VP choice as well as the “judgment” of Senator McCain. They claim that the Republicans didn’t fully vett Ms. Palin, that McCain hastily chose Palin. Now how do they know this? Did they get into the mind of Mr. McCain? Pure conjure on their part.

You know what these left wing loonies are doing don’t you? Personal attacks! How can a voter come to solid conclusions when all day long we are bombarded by filth from MSM?  I wrote a column about a show called “Dirty Jobs” awhile back. Well I believe working for a left-wing web site/blogging site as well as working for MSM is truly a Dirty Job!

Stop this nonsense now! Get to the real meat of the candidates and not their personal life or their children’s life. Heaven knows that we only elect the purest and cleanist of them all – like Kennedy and Clinton who both were womanizers! But that’s okay – right?

Until later,

Linda
